Q: If you could control either love, death, water, or earth like the gods in the show, which one would you choose and why?
A: I would control earth. It would be lovely to be able to create beautiful things on the earth with just the wave of a hand or snap of the fingers. If I could oversee all the things that happen on earth, I would fix many of the environmental issue.
Q: "Why We Tell the Story" is just one of the amazing songs in Once on this Island! Why do you think telling a story through the arts is still important to society?
A: Stories in musical theater often have a lesson that come along with it. Musicals are meant to be catchy and stick with people. Telling stories and lessons through song insures that people will remember it. Also, music done well gives people a warm and lovely feeling no matter the message. Seeing a large group of kids working hard and coming together to create something beautiful is inspiring.
Q: Why are you most excited about sharing this particular story with your community?
A: This story shows how to have a dedication so bold that you can cross any border or obstacle, whether it be a physical obstacle or something like social difference. This story is inspiring because it embraces cultural differences and brings them together to tell a story of unity.
Mark your calendars to join us for a performance Sept. 13-23!
